Black Templar Space Marine by AlphaWalrus Black Templar Space Marine by AlphaWalrus
My first whack at actually painting with Photoshop and a tablet. I've always admired the art of Warhammer 40K, so this felt like a good way to start. The piece lacks action and his pose is rather stiff, but I wanted to paint as much of him as possible, for the sake of practice.

Amazing work. Gotta love the detail of him standing on the bodies of his fallen enemies. You did a great job showing the scale of the armor compared to the size of the human inside, I think.

On a non-fanatical, non-fantasy point of view, I've always wondered what a cross-section of the armor would look like. I mean, considering the size of the man's head there compared to the distance to the soles of his boots, I'd say his feet don't actually reach into his boots, or that he played in the NBA once upon the time.

Not a criticism of your artwork, mind you, just a random thought. ^.^ Keep up the great art.

I gotta say...great job. Given the Black Templars and their color scheme along with the very nature of them, you captured this Space Marine very well. My favorite parts are perhaps the power sword still going through the dead Word Bearer (or whatever Chaos SM is there) and the look on the Marine's face. It says Black Templars all over. Well done.

Fine work! Have to say though that you gave him too big of a bolter if you wanted him to be an assault trooper I believe. I think he needs a bolt pistol instead of a full-size bolter if he's going to have a sword. Has he got a jetpack on his back?

Thank you. To be honest, I've never actually played the table top game or Dawn of War, so my only impression of the 40k world comes from the art and some short stories, which is kind of cool. I guess I didn't realize that there was a pistol version of the bolter. And I don't know what the thing on his back is. I only know that they usually have one.

Thanks again for the comment.
